Compare two performances carefully
Use the same movement in two recordings and keep the volume comfortable and similar. Listen to the opening minute of each. Compare pace, the length of pauses and how clearly accompanying parts can be heard.
A recording space and microphone placement affect the result as well as the performers. Describe a difference before ranking it. Keep one sentence about each version and return to the full movement when you have time.
